A Postcrosser's Ode to Margaret Rutherford, the original "Miss Marple" by revode

An amateur detective,
I've faced all kinds of crimes;
From London to the countryside,
I've solved them many times.
I use my magnifying glass
to search for every clue;
From China, France, and Canada,
Madagascar, too;
I question every subject,
interview them all,
From Sweden, Brazil, Mexico,
Italy, Nepal;
But finally I scuba-dived
Aussie's Great Barrier Reef;
and finally solved the mystery
Of my missing teeth!

Poem of Anna Achmatowa by Ninotschka's Mum

Herz ist nicht an Herz gekettet,
Wenn du möchtest - kannst du gehn.
Wie auf Rosen ist gebettet,
Der da frei geht seinen Weg.

Kein Geheule, keine Klagen,
Glücklich werd ich niemals sein!
Küss mich nicht, bin müd, verzagt,
Mich küsst nur der Tod allein.

Quälte mich so lange Tage
Mit dem Winter, der so weiß...
Warum bist du besser, sag es,
Als der Mann, der mir verheissen?

Heart is not chained to heart,
If you want - you can go.
As is bedded on roses,
He's going his own way.

No howling, no complaints,
I will never be happy!
Do not kiss me, I'm tired, despondent,
Only death alone kisses me.

Tormented me for so many days
With winter so white ...
Why are you better, say it,
As the man who was promised me?

Alone in the pack by Kathrin

Zusammen den Mond anheulen -
willst du nicht, kannst du nicht, weigerst dich.
Nur zu wiederholen, was andere rufen,
daran wächst du nicht.

Willst deinen eigenen Schrei finden
nicht nur heulen und brüllen
willst handeln, erleben, kämpfen
was zähl sind Ehrgeiz und Leidenschaft.

Warum sind nicht mehr wie du?

Howling to the moon together -
you don't want to, you cannot, you refuse to.
Just to repeat what others call,
you do not grow on it.

Want to find your own scream
not just howl and roar
want to act, experience, fight
what counts are ambition and passion.

Why aren't you more like you?

No new posts at the moment

Hi guys!

There won't be any new posts at the moment because I don't have cards with stories or poems left. I also don't have time to write something for the lost cards.
It would be great if some of you could adopt a card or two and keep the blog going.

Thank you.

Shall I add more postcard types?

Hi guys!

I hope you all had a good start into the new year.
I'm happy to say that I had many adoptions lately and I can't wait to receive the cards back. Thanks a lot for writing them. Your stories and poems are brilliant.

I wondered if I should add other postcard types? I have a stash of postcards I would like to keep for myself but they are way nicer when they are written. I have a couple of Inge Löök cards for example or a couple from my travels to Scandinavia.

Please leave a comment below if I should add other postcards as well.

Have a nice day. :)

Please adopt cards

Hello together!

I know many of you enjoy to read the stories and poems I get from the people who adopt cards or whom I send them to in the Round Robin I participate in.

There are still some people who haven't sent the cards back yet but for now I have no new stories for you. So please adopt a card and write a story or a poem to share with other people on this blog. I know you are all a creative bunch out there, so please adopt a card and let the collection of stories and poems on this blog grow.

Please share this page/post with people who like to write and people who love postcards.
Thank you.

New postcards to adopt

I have some new postcards which you can adopt now for a story if you want to.
Now you can choose to adopt one of the 30 horse photography postcards which turned up in my stuff. Maybe they'll inspire you to a story or a poem as well.

I wanted to thank you for all the lovely stories and poems I got so far. Thanks a lot.

A fallen star by TimTam

This was the night that many had only heard of in whispers as their mothers nursed them. The creatures of the ocean gathered, their exuberance barely contained.
Legend foretold that when the sky shone yellow in the west that a queen would come to live amongst them.
A fallen star, radiant silver hair, would give up it's life in the heavens to join them. Her voice, that of angels, would seduce the unwary and she would bring light to even the darkest souls and leviathans in the far abyss.
Seraphina, Sirenia, mermaid, they cared not for her name but for the hope she would bring to them all.

Dream by Sancta11

The girl opened her eyes and found herself on the cloud.
"Well, I'm definitely asleep", she said and looked around. The sunset sun cast beautiful shadows everywhere.
"Hey, that little cloud looks like a horse", thought the girl. And all of a sudden it moved.
The girl saw that cloud transform into a white horse.
"But of course it is not real. Horses cannot stand on the clouds", she said aloud. " So cannot a little girl", replied the horse and snorted.
The girl gasped in surprise and woke up.

Love crossed her path by Michelle

Nantosuelta was struck from her colony for her curse. It was lonely without other fairies; like whales and humans, they are lonely creatures.
One day, a plum little fairy boy startled her into invisibility. Her clear chameleon skin sank into the green, but he felt her presence.
She revealed herself and he thought her the most beautiful creature! They fell for each other's faults and lived through centuries together, until one day their bodies passed and left a healthy apple orchard for their descendants and friends.

Blue by Emilialoves2travel

Blue is such a wonderful hue!
Added with sparkles and glitters
Certainly as magical as the beautiful You!

Swan Song by PostMuse

Estella bent in and murmured, "I see it, but don't let those two back there catch on. You know how nosey they are."
Estella and Vincent paddled away, keeping their treasure a secret. Vincent whispered, "Do you really think it will work?" He had his fears. After all, they did find it behind the most treacherous of the falls, and the only creature who dares to venture there is the elf, Cyndimor. And she is often a trickster.
It was happenstance that put Estella and Vincent where swans don't venture. A dive for a particular tasty plant revealed an underwater passage. They couldn't resist a peek. Curiosity is only dangerous for cats.
Glancing back, Estella answered, "If it does, we will make the most beautiful music."

The thing from the humans by buddy

"Hello", said Emil the shrimp to his friend Hannes the cichlid. "Hello", said Hannes as well. "I'm so bored Hannes. Do you want to play with me?"
"Hmm..." replied Hannes. "Actually, I wanted to sleep in the sea weed." "Please, please" said Emil. "I'm so bored." "Alright but what shall we play?" "Yesterday I've found a great thing from the humans. It came recently from their world."
Emil and Hannes swam to the thing from the humans and investigated it. Hannes said, "I know this thing. Humans call it crate and they store things in it." "They store things inside", repeated Emil. "I want to have a closer look." Suddenly the lid of the crate closed.
"Help me Hannes. Help. I'm afraid", cried Emil. But what could Hannes do? "I can't save you on my own but I'm looking for help." Hannes came back with Rüdiger the pike and Rüdiger tried everything to get Emil out of the crate but what could he do to get him out of a closed crate.
Emil whined about what would happen if he had to stay in this crate forever but no one had a good advice. Suddenly a boat came towards the crate and it rammed into it and turned the crate upside down. Emil's body shook and he had closed his eyes because he was still in the crate. Hannes and Rüdiger were back again and looked from above onto the crate. "Emil, open your eyes. You are free." Now they could see that the crate had no bottom.
From that day on, Emil swam a long way round things from the humans.

First adoptions

I received the first adoption requests and the postcards are now on their way to the people who requested them.
I have to admit that I can't wait to see them back again with their backs filled with stories and poems. :)

Here is a picture of the style of the postcards, so you know what to expect.

Ready to start

Hi guys!

I'm now ready to start the project.

I've added the postcard types you can adopt and there's a post how the whole adoption works.
And finally, there is an adoption form where you can give me all the information I need to send a card to you.

I'm waiting for your requests. :)

A new project

I had an idea for a new project that involves the blank postcards I have at home and I hope that you'll help me with it.

Several fantasy postcard books are sitting on my shelf but I don't want to send them away via Postcrossing because I wouldn't see them again this way. I'm a writer of short stories and poems as well, so I thought why not combine these two things but I need your help.

I would like to send out the postcards I have to people around the world and get them back with a fictional story or poem that is inspired by the picture on the front of the postcard.
I don't know how many people are up for this challenge but I would like to use this blog to publish your stories and poems with the picture of the postcard they are on.

There is still some work I have to do until everything can start but you can already tell me if you're interested.
