Solomon's dream by Tanya Reed

Solomon the horse had a dream.
In his secret soul, he longed to fly. In reality, he was just an old cart horse.
Day after day, he pulled a cart from his humble farm to the nearest town and back again. Year after year, all he knew was his stall, the cart and one small piece of road.
Time passed, and both he and the man who drove the cart grew older. Solomon became bowed with age and with grief as he eventually accepted that an ordinary horse is not born to fly.
Then, one morning, he woke up feeling younger than he had in years. In surprise, he unfurled and stretched the beautiful wings he had grown in the night.
Happy at last, Solomon flew, leaving his mortal body behind.
